Grades

All grades in my class are based on points first. I then average those grades and convert them into whatever symbols the school district uses for report cards. (For example, one school I worked at used the symbols +, P and /. Another school I worked at used E, M, S and L. I also taught in a middle school which used the traditional A-F grading scale). I believe that using a numeric grading scale gives me more information about how the student managed class time and it helps me grade them more fairly.

Grades are roughly broken down into the following categories:

Weekly Participation Grades and Project Grades

Projects are evaluated using Rubrics.
